Iowa Tornado Warning Issued for Jefferson, Grand Junction and Scranton Until 6:15 AM

A Tornado Warning is in effect for Jefferson, Grand Junction, Scranton and surrounding communities in Iowa until 6:15 a.m. CDT Thursday, August 13.
The National Weather Service said radar indicated possible tornado development within the warned area. Approximately 6,508 people, seven schools and one hospital could be exposed to the storm.
Other locations in or near the warning zone include Churdan, Paton, Dana, Farlin, Cooper and Rippey.
Residents should immediately move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows and protect yourself from flying debris.
Anyone in a mobile home, vehicle or outdoors should seek substantial shelter immediately. Do not wait to see or hear a tornado before taking cover.
