Springfield man killed in crash on I-57 outside Effingham, Illinois

A Springfield man is dead following a high-speed crash on Interstate 57 outside Effingham early Wednesday morning. Police arrived to find a man, identified by the Effingham County Coroner as 50-year-old David Vorties, trapped and unresponsive in his vehicle.

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police responded just after midnight Wednesday to a crash on I-57, about eight miles south of Effingham.
