2 displaced after house fire near Lakeport

Two people were displaced after a fire destroyed most of their Rusk County home, according to a release from the Elderville-Lakeport Volunteer Fire Department.

Fire response and evacuations

The ELVFD release said around 3:44 a.m., crews were dispatched to a reported house fire near the intersection of County Road 291 and FM 1249.

According to the release, crews encountered heavy fire conditions coming from two bedrooms at the front of the house.

The fire was brought under control around 25 minutes after crews arrived, according to the release.

The ELVFD said the house was an estimated 60% loss and two people were displaced but no injuries were reported.
