Ronnie Franklin’s Mother Responds to Murder Arrest of Suspect as His Honor Walk Is Set for Later Today.

As Ronnie Franklin’s family prepares to honor his decision to donate his organs, his mother says she is grateful that the driver accused of striking him in a Eureka work zone has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Franklin, 20, of McKinleyville, died September 19 after being struck while setting out safety cones in a closed lane of Broadway three nights earlier.

His mother, Sequoyah Hudson, said an honor walk is scheduled for 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

“[M]y son will be honored for his unselfish decision to Give the Gift of Life by donating his organs in hopes that someone else can live,” Hudson wrote Tuesday evening.
