Two children ages 8 & 9 witness fatal shooting of St Madeleine man

A41-year-old man was shot dead in Ste Madeleine last night.

The deceased has been identified as Ario Sandiford, of George Street, Ste Madeleine.

According to police reports, at about 6.30pm, Sandiford was in a van situated in the yard of his home when he was approached by a masked man.

At the time, two children, aged eight and nine, were said to be in the yard.

The suspect walked up to Sandiford and shot him several times.
The suspect then fled the scene.

The children were not harmed.

The police and emergency health services were notified and crime scene experts recovered four spent 9mm shells on the scene of the shooting.

Officers form the Southern Division and the Homicide Bureau, including ASP Persad, Insp Ramlogan, Sgt Smith, and Sgt Ramlogan, responded.
