A strong earthquake has hit southern Japan

A earthquake with the preliminary magnitude of 6.4 has hit southern Japan, with the epicenter in the Bungo Channel. The seismic intensity of 6 was measured in the Southern Ehime and Western Kōchi prefecture, located on the Shikoku Island in Japan. There is no threat of a tsunami. It was initially reported that large tremors may have continued for a long period of time in high-rise buildings and towers. It remains unclear either if anyone was injured or if there were any damage.
