SAPD respond to officer-involved shooting on the east side of San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department confirmed Monday night that there was an officer-involved shooting in the 2800 block of Ravina Street on the city’s east side.

Police Chief William McManus says the information in this case is preliminary and is expected to change as detectives continue with their investigation.

According to McManus, authorities were tracking an individual wanted on two aggravated robbery felony warrants when the suspect pulled a weapon from his waistband and pointed it at the officers. This prompted officers to fire their weapons at the man.

The suspect, who is believed to be in his early 30s, was hit and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
