Reported shooting inside BCSO leaves two dead

According to a news conference held by Sheriff Javier Salazar this afternoon, two people have reportedly died inside the BCSO Adult Detention Center on Sunday, March 3.
The incident allegedly occurred inside the booking area of the detention center located in the 200 block of North Comal Street. According to Salazar, one person was a 19-year-old man, who was in custody on a domestic violence charge. While the other individual was a detention officer, who was assisting in the processing of the 19-year-old.
According to Salazar, the detention officer was asking the man to remove his clothing while he checked for weapons. But as the 19-year-old made his way to remove his pants, he reportedly was holding a weapon inside baggy basketball shorts he was wearing. The suspect, according to Salazar, tried to run off before being caught by the detention officer. That’s when he fired off one gunshot at the officer before firing another, taking his own life.
