Man found with trauma on Indianapolis’ near west side

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD homicide detectives are investigating after a man with traumatic injuries was found dead on Indianapolis’ near west side Tuesday evening.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Feb. 27, officers responded to the 100 block of South Belmont Avenue, just south of West Washington Street, for a report of a person shot. There they located a man with trauma who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not say if the man had gunshot wounds and have not shared any additional information on the circumstances of the incident.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will identify the man and release his cause of death once family has been notified.
