“Smash Mouth” singer Steve Harwell has died at the age of 56

Presley Scott Harwell is his only child. Steven Scott Harwell suffered a tragic personal tragedy in July 2001 when his son died of acute lymphocytic leukemia at the age of 6 months.
This horrific event had a clear impact on Harwell and his family, as the loss of a child is an incomprehensible and highly emotional event.
After this tragic event, Harwell turned his grief into a meaningful and lasting tribute to his son.
In memory of his last child, Harwell Presley established a medical research foundation.
The foundation is meant to promote and advance scientific endeavors aimed at fighting the dreaded cancer that claimed his son’s life.

The former Smash Mouth lead singer is currently receiving hospice care at home as his health fails (YouTube/SMASH MOUTH).
He also struggles with ongoing medical conditions such as cardiomyopathy and liver failure.
According to his manager Robert Hayes, as reported by TMZ, Harwell is being cared for by his fiance.

“Although Steve is still with us, sadly, it will be for a short time,” Hayes said in a statement to CNN.
