Shooting near Oakland’s Mills College leaves one dead

Oakland police are investigating a shooting near the Mills College campus that left one person dead Saturday morning, authorities said.

Firefighters discovered the person suffering from gunshot wounds and called police to the 5900 block of MacArthur Boulevard, one block from the college campus, around 11:15 a.m., Oakland police department spokesperson Kim Armstead said Sunday night.

Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead, Armstead said. The victim has not been publicly identified.
