Shots fired in Chilliwack in Knight Road residential area east of Vedder Road

Chilliwack Mounties were on the scene Monday (May 22) evening after a report of shots fired in a residential area off Knight Road between Vedder and Chilliwack River roads.

After 5 p.m. emergency responders were dispatched to assist with a barricaded person in the area.

Some people were evacuated from residences in the area at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Others residents were asked to shelter in place and stay away from external walls.

Chilliwack RCMP Tweeted about the incident after 8 p.m. on Monday.

“Chilliwack RCMP are on scene at a high risk police incident involving shots fired, ” the Tweet stated. “Residents in the area of Knight Rd near Melville, Queens and Downes are asked to shelter in place and stay away from external walls. Do not post photos of police on social media. More to follow.”
