The Pentagon during the Trump administration offered to send National Guard troops to the U.S. Capitol four days before the January 6th protest but was met with a series of rejections from the Democrats and Capitol Police, according to recently obtained memos.

This validates prior claims made by President Trump and senior officials in the administration.

The official timeline of the January 6th events assembled by the United States Capitol Police (USCP) shows that the Trump Defense Department reached out to the USCP deputy chief, Sean Gallagher, on Jan. 2, 2021, offering additional troops for safeguarding the Capitol premises. Gallagher, after consulting with then USCP chief Steve Sund rejected DOD’s offer.

“Carol Corbin (DOD) texts USCP Deputy Chief Sean Gallagher, Protective Service Bureau, to determine whether USCP is considering a request for National Guard soldiers for January 6, 2021 event,” official records read from the entry list for Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021.
