U.S. state police say 3 children and 2 adults have died after a school bus collided with a semitrailer in western Illinois.

The bus was traveling west on U.S. Route 24 at Parkview Road around 11:30 a.m., and for an unknown reason, crossed the road and hit the commercial vehicle head-on, according to Illinois State Police.
