NWS Warns Severe Storms Could Bring Large Hail and Tornado Risk Across Midwest

The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms across parts of Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, and southeast Iowa.
Meteorologists say a very moist and unstable air mass combined with strong wind shear could support scattered to widespread severe storms.
The storm environment may favor supercells capable of producing large to very large hail, especially where storms remain isolated.
As storms organize later in the evening, linear storm segments could also develop, increasing the risk of damaging winds.
Forecasters say the greatest tornado potential may occur near the warm front and triple point across parts of Missouri, Illinois, and far southeast Iowa as the system evolves.
