A suspect shot at two officers, who returned fire, Essex County Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Robert Florida said. The person who was shot remains hospitalized in ‘stable’ condition, according to Florida.

The officers were not shot, but they were also taken to a hospital following protocol, he said. The shooting happened at about 5 a.m. on the 400 block of Clinton Ave., said Florida, who promised more details would follow.
