Massive Fire Erupts Near Indian Parliament, Building Housing MPs Engulfed in Flames

NEW DELHI — A serious fire broke out in a residential building just 200 meters from the Parliament House, which houses several Members of Parliament, early today. Thick smoke and large flames could be seen rising from the structure in the Gole Market/Bishambhar Das Marg area, sending residents into panic.
Witnesses report that no fire engine had arrived for at least 30 minutes after the blaze started, even as the fire continued to grow and spread. The building, known to host members of the upper house (Rajya Sabha), was quickly evacuated. Authorities remain on high alert given the proximity to a major national institution.
Emergency services say they are working under challenging conditions due to the congested city-centre location and high security around the Parliament precinct. Investigations are underway into the fire’s cause, with officials saying they cannot yet confirm the extent of damage or whether any injuries have occurred.
As local traffic is diverted and the area cordoned off, residents in nearby buildings — including parliamentary staff and officials — have been urged to stay clear while fire-fighting teams bring the blaze under control.
