Arrest made nearly 3 months after deadly hit-and-run in Carefree

On Dec. 10, 2023, just before 1 p.m., deputies were called to the hit-and-run near Cave Creek and Pima roads in Carefree. Authorities say Guerrero Talamantes was driving a silver and white pickup truck when he struck Hadrich, who was riding his motorcycle. Guerrero Talamantes allegedly fled from the scene. Hadrich was rushed to the hospital but later died. Family says the 27-year-old tattoo artist had been out riding motorcycles with his father when the crash happened.

During the course of the investigation, on Feb. 9, the Glendale Police Department received a call from a witness who stated the pickup truck was located in a storage yard. MCSO Vehicular Crimes Detectives retrieved the vehicle as evidence, which led them to Guerrero Talamantes.

On Friday, MCSO detectives and the Fugitive Apprehension Tactical Enforcement (FATE) Unit tracked down and arrested Guerrero Talamantes. He was booked for felony hit-and-run charges involving death.

“Successful identification of a suspect in this investigation was made possible through the hard work and dedication of MCSO Detectives/support personnel and the community’s assistance in providing lead information,” Sheriff Russ Skinner said. “While these investigations are complex, we remain committed to public safety and serving our community.”

Arizona’s Family previously spoke to Hadrich’s family, who set up a memorial near the crash site. “You can’t do this to a family and just move on in your life like nothing happened,” said Kim Pope, David’s mother. “This wasn’t a piece of trash you hit on the road. This was my son. He was a brother, grandson, nephew.”
