Ericka Lomick faces scrutiny over federal mortgage-fraud case; campaign suspension not yet confirmed
Ericka Lomick, the Democratic nominee for Texas House District 93, is facing renewed scrutiny after federal records tied her to a North Carolina mortgage-fraud case from 2010.
Federal records identify Ericka L. Flood, also known as Ericka Lomick, as a defendant in the case. Reporting based on those records says she pleaded guilty to offenses connected to mortgage fraud, bank fraud and money laundering and received concurrent federal prison sentences, including a 63-month term.
Claims circulated Monday that Lomick had suspended her campaign, but that development could not yet be independently confirmed. As of September 21, her campaign website remained active and continued to present her as a candidate for Texas House District 93.
Recent election listings also continued to show Lomick as the Democratic candidate for the November 3 general election.
The campaign-suspension claim should therefore be treated as unconfirmed until Lomick, the Texas Democratic Party or election officials issue a direct statement or filing.
