UK flight delays: NATS confirms Prestwick air traffic control issue in Scotland

UK air traffic control operator NATS has confirmed a technical issue at its Prestwick centre in Scotland, causing delays to flights across parts of northern Britain on Monday.

NATS said airports south of Manchester are broadly unaffected, while flights heading north and services departing Scottish airports are currently subject to delays.

Air traffic restrictions have been introduced to safely manage demand while the issue is being resolved.

Passengers travelling through affected airports are being advised to check their flight status directly with their airline before heading to the airport.

NATS said the incident is unrelated to the air traffic control technical problem that disrupted UK flights earlier this month.
