Video: Wife Says Man Was Shot Twice in Back by ICE Agent in North Austin
New details are emerging after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and wounded a man in North Austin, Texas, on Sunday.
A local reporter who spoke with the man’s wife said she reported that her husband was shot twice in the back.
Witness video from the scene reportedly shows an ICE SUV attempting to block the man’s vehicle. According to an account of the footage, the man tried to drive away as federal agents approached before gunfire erupted.
A blue Toyota Corolla at the scene could be seen with bullet holes and damage to the passenger-side door.
Video recorded by Beto Luna shows the wounded man sitting inside the vehicle after the shooting. He appears to speak to the person recording, although his words are difficult to understand.
The footage was initially shared with a Spanish-language message asking anyone who knew the man’s family to contact them and saying he had been shot by ICE.
The shooting occurred in the 7000 block of West Anderson Lane near U.S. 183. The man was taken to a hospital, but his current condition and identity have not been publicly released.
Federal authorities have not yet provided a detailed account of what happened immediately before the ICE agent opened fire.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
