Edom game room robbery suspects face charges after manhunt

Two people have been arrested after being accused of robbing a game room in the Edom area on Sept. 11.

Arrest and charges

According to a press release from the Van Zandt County Constables Precinct 4, Labryson Orange and Whitney Barnett robbed a game store at gunpoint and fled with more than $8,000 in a car borrowed from Barnett’s mother.

Barnett was arrested by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday during a traffic stop.

Charges and court proceedings

The release states that Orange was identified using surveillance video and information gathered during the investigation, and Barnett was identified by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.

At the conclusion of the investigation into the incident, warrants were issued for their arrest.

According to jail records, Barnett is currently being held at the Smith County Jail and is charged with aggravated robbery and possession of marijuana.

Orange was already wanted by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated felony charges and had fled the state following the incident, according to the release.

The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force joined the investigation, and Orange was located and arrested in Columbus, Ohio, Saturday afternoon.
