Woman charged with murder after shooting her boyfriend, deputies say

A woman is being charged with murder after shooting her boyfriend, according to McDowell County, North Carolina, deputies.

The McDowell County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to Lackey Town Road in Old Fort at approximately 4 p.m. after a relative called and said someone had been shot at a home.

According to authorities, 41-year-old Eric Jerome Ward died of a gunshot wound during the incident. Deputies say 49-year-old Jessica Martin Blackburn, Ward's girlfriend, was charged with felony murder.
