Rescue group seeking answers after 7 puppies shot, 2 killed

An animal rescue group in Alabama said someone recently shot seven puppies and killed two of them. Now, the group is asking whoever shot the puppies to be held accountable and is asking for help.

“Disgusted” is how the nonprofit, Chilton County TNR, described the situation. Officials said the seven puppies were just around 6 months old. “I want the people who left the dogs to be held accountable.

I want the person who shot the dogs to be held accountable,” officials said. Volunteers said they first heard about the shooting Monday before more puppies with injuries began trickling in throughout the week.

Officials said two puppies died, three have flesh wounds and are in foster care, and two are at the Calera Animal Hospital where officials said one may require leg amputation.

The rescue group said they take the situation seriously and are gathering information on the person responsible and plan to file a police report.

WBRC reached out to the Chilton County sheriff, who said he’s working to reach the rescue group to get information and determine jurisdiction.

While all of the details of the shooting are unknown, the group said situations like these point to a larger issue in the state.
