FHP: 33-year-old man killed in Palatka ATV crash
Palatka ATV crash: report details
A 33-year-old Hollister man died Saturday when the ATV he was driving overturned on Lloyd Drive north of Earl Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred as the man was driving the ATV north on Lloyd Drive and approached a curve in the road, FHP said.
He failed to maintain his lane through the curve, and the ATV crossed the southbound lane onto the west grass shoulder, where it struck a support wire for a wooden utility pole and overturned.
According to the report, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt or a helmet. The ATV came to rest on its passenger side, and the driver became trapped between the grassy shoulder and the vehicle.
