Two injured after plane crashes in field, troopers say

A private plane crashed in a field in Buncombe County, North Carolina, on Saturday morning, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Officials say they were called to Roberts Lake Drive at approximately 10:50 a.m.

Troopers say a privately owned Cirrus aircraft experienced issues before deploying an on-board parachute and crashing in a field in the Arden community, which is about 15 miles south of Asheville. According to officials, two passengers were injured in the crash.

Troopers report that they have since secured the scene and are awaiting the arrival of FAA and NTSB investigators. Keep up with what's happening around our area by downloading the WYFF News 4 app on the App Store or Google Play.
