15-Year-Old Girl Killed, 13-Year-Old Injured After Truck Hits Citi Bike in Manhattan

A 15-year-old girl was killed and a 13-year-old girl was injured after a large truck struck the Citi Bike they were riding in Manhattan’s East Village on Friday night.

The crash happened at about 9 p.m. at East 14th Street and First Avenue. Police said the truck was traveling west on East 14th Street and was making a right turn onto First Avenue when it struck the two teenagers. 

Both girls were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where the 15-year-old was pronounced dead. The 13-year-old was listed in stable condition. 

Police believe both teens were riding the same Citi Bike at the time of the crash. A bicycle could be seen underneath the truck at the scene. 

The driver remained at the scene, and NYPD Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. No charges had been announced in the initial reports.
