A stabbing of a Sikh truck driver at a remote rest stop in Wyoming has raised concerns within the U.S. Sikh community, particularly among truck drivers who say they have faced increasing anti-immigrant and anti-Sikh hostility in recent months.

The driver was attacked early Sunday inside a restroom at the Bitter Creek rest area along Interstate 80 in Sweetwater County, Wyoming. According to court documents, the victim was stabbed several times in the neck and chest and suffered 17 other cuts.

He survived the attack and was later treated at a hospital in Casper. Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the stabbing, but authorities have stressed that they have not established a motive.

According to the police affidavit, the truck driver stopped at the eastbound Bitter Creek rest area at about 3:27 a.m. Sunday to use the restroom. While inside, he was allegedly attacked from behind by a man carrying a knife.
