Video: Tornado Touches Down Near Fruit Heights in Davis County, Utah

A tornado touched down Friday afternoon in the foothills of Davis County, Utah, near Fruit Heights, as a powerful supercell moved across the area.

The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado touched down along the mountainside near Fruit Heights shortly before 2 p.m. MDT.

Video from the area showed the tornado interacting with the steep terrain as it moved along the foothills, producing a striking funnel against the mountains.

The tornado developed after the National Weather Service issued a warning for parts of Davis, Weber and Morgan counties. The storm was also capable of producing ping pong ball-size hail and was moving northeast at around 30 mph.

A subsequent severe thunderstorm warning remained in effect for parts of northern Utah, including Fruit Heights, Farmington, Layton and Kaysville, with large hail also reported.
