Sebastian Police identify man killed in officer-involved shooting; FDLE investigating

A Sebastian man was shot and killed by police after he came out of his home carrying a shotgun while officers responded to a noise complaint Tuesday night, the police chief said.

Sebastian police officers were called to a home at 549 Joy Haven Drive about 9:25 p.m. after someone reported hearing yelling and obscenities from inside, Interim Chief Tim Wood said at a news conference.

Two officers arrived about a minute later and spoke with a female resident, identified by the chief as the man's mother.

While an officer talked with her outside, police could hear a man yelling inside the home, Wood said.
