Dallas, Texas weather: Heat, wildfire risk persist as weak cold front nears

Friday will be another hot day across Dallas-Fort Worth, with temperatures climbing to around 100 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office, temperatures are expected to remain high until a weak cold front approaches Dallas-Fort Worth late Sunday.

Friday’s high is forecast to hover near 100 degrees, with the heat index, or "feels like" temperature, a few degrees higher at 102.

Humidity levels are also expected to increase Friday, according to the weather service.

Dallas-Fort Worth remains under an elevated fire risk, with conditions becoming more worrisome by Saturday.

The weather service expects breezy, hot and dry conditions this weekend, which will raise the region’s fire risk further.

Related: North Texas' Ross fire 100% contained after nearly monthlong battle “The threat for grass fires will remain elevated each afternoon, especially along and west of Interstate 35,” the weather service said in its Thursday afternoon forecast.

The weather service encourages individuals to avoid activities that could start a wildfire, including tossing lit cigarettes on the ground or driving over tall grass.
