Roommate arrested for attempted murder after stabbing at Orland home

A 37-year-old Orland woman was arrested early Thursday after her roommate told police she stabbed him during an argument, authorities said.

Orland police responded about 3:56 a.m. to the 200 block of East Mill Street after receiving a report that someone had been stabbed.

Officers found a 30-year-old man who said his roommate, Ashlee Veneman, stabbed him with a knife, police said. Police said Veneman refused to leave the home.

After about 45 minutes of trying to get her outside, officers entered the home and took her into custody without further incident.
