M3.1 Earthquake Strikes Greater Los Angeles Area Near Long Beach

A preliminary magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck the Greater Los Angeles area Thursday afternoon.
The quake was reported at approximately 1:32 p.m. local time, with the epicenter about 21 kilometers south-southeast of Los Angeles and roughly 11 kilometers north-northwest of Long Beach.
Preliminary data placed the earthquake at a depth of about 13.2 kilometers.
There were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries.
