Tornado Warning Continues for Marion and Upland, Indiana, Until 2 AM EDT
A Tornado Warning remains in effect for Marion and Upland, Indiana, early Thursday, September 17, 2026, as a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado moves through the area.
The National Weather Service said the tornado threat is radar indicated, meaning rotation has been detected by weather radar but a tornado has not necessarily been confirmed on the ground.
Tornado Warning Covers Marion and Upland
The warning remains in effect until 2:00 a.m. EDT Thursday.
The warned area includes Marion and Upland, with the storm moving through portions of Grant County. An earlier warning also included Sweetser.
The National Weather Service graphic estimates more than 41,000 people are within the potential exposure area.
Residents Urged to Take Shelter
People inside the warning area should move immediately to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
Residents should stay away from windows and continue monitoring official weather alerts until the tornado warning expires or is canceled.
