‘Icon of the Wildwoods’ tram car driver dies at age 97

Jersey Shore icon and Wildwood tram car legend John “Gigi” Gigliotti has died.

Gigliotti spent more than 30 years working on the Wildwood boardwalk’s Sightseer Tram Cars, becoming a well-loved, familiar face for residents, visitors and area business owners.

“If you ever rode the tram car, walked the boards, or spent your summers in the Wildwoods, chances are you knew Gigi,” stated a post from Watch The Tramcar Please, a Wildwood social media page.

“His smile, his stories, his kindness, and the way he made everyone feel welcome — that was his gift to this island.
