Alex Nunez Killed in New Braunfels Head-On Crash; Driver Charged With Intoxication Manslaughter

Alex Nunez, 27, was killed in a head-on crash in New Braunfels, Texas, after a pickup truck allegedly crossed into his path on FM 725.

According to New Braunfels Police, the pickup driver, Rafael Alejandro Arreguin-Ramirez, 25, of Mexico, showed signs of intoxication at the scene. He was taken for a blood draw under a search warrant and later charged with intoxication manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A 3-year-old child riding in Nunez’s sedan suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to University Hospital in San Antonio.

Police also said the pickup’s passenger, Alejandro Aguillen Acosta, 23, of Mexico, fled the scene on foot and was later found hiding in a nearby garage. He was charged with evading arrest or detention and criminal trespass of a habitation.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of FM 725 and remains under investigation.
