Broncos vs Chiefs: Kansas City Crushes Denver 31-10 as Mahomes Returns

The Kansas City Chiefs opened their 2026 NFL season with a dominant 31-10 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football, powered by a huge debut from Kenneth Walker III and the return of Patrick Mahomes.

Walker rushed for a career-high 173 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns, including a spectacular 60-yard run early in the second half.

Mahomes, playing his first game since suffering a season-ending knee injury last December, threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for a 15-yard score.

Kansas City took control after halftime, extending a 14-7 lead as Walker broke free for his 60-yard touchdown.

The Chiefs defense also overwhelmed Denver quarterback Bo Nix, recording four sacks and forcing two turnovers.

Nix completed 17 of 28 passes for 131 yards, one touchdown and one interception as Denver finished with only 176 total yards.

Travis Kelce also reached another career milestone, passing Jason Witten for second place on the NFL’s all-time receiving yards list among tight ends.

Kelce finished with three catches for 71 yards, giving him 13,073 career receiving yards.

The Chiefs begin the season 1-0, while the Broncos fall to 0-1 after a difficult opening-night performance.
