18-year-old arrested in Sunday shooting that left one dead

An 18-year-old was arrested in connection with a shooting early Sunday morning near the 3100 block of Eagle Boulevard that left one person dead, the Brighton Police Department said.

Officers responded to the shooting around 12:30 a.m., and found a 33-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds on the scene, a Sunday news release said.

Officers performed lifesaving measures on the man, who was then taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Jeness Torres, 18, was placed in custody at the scene and later booked into the Adams County Detention Facility on second-degree murder charges, among others, according to the release.
