PEORIA (25News Now) -A teenager has been arrested for allegedly having an illegal gun in Peoria’s East Bluff.

Arrest and charges
Peoria Police officers said they saw the 16-year-old walking with a gun near the intersection East Ravine and North New York avenues shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Police said when officers tried to make contact with him, he tried to run away, but he was taken into custody moments later.
He was transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
Officers arrested the teen for aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a handgun by someone younger than 21, not having a FOID card, and resisting a police officer.
