Former Cleveland Indians Outfielder Has Died

Joseph Michael Morgan, who spent parts of two seasons with the Cleveland Indians and later became famous as the Boston Red Sox manager behind “Morgan Magic,” has died.

He was 95. The Red Sox announced the death of the Walpole, Massachusetts, native. No cause was given.

Morgan is survived by four children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Cleveland fans remember a brief but productive late-season look in 1960.

Acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 9, the left-handed-hitting infielder and occasional outfielder appeared in 22 games for the Indians that year.
