Intruder killed, second man charged after home invasion at Memphis, Tennessee apartment

A man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he and an accomplice kicked in an apartment door, triggering a violent fight that left the second intruder dead.

According to an arrest affidavit, Devonta Johnson and Zarian Sanders went to an apartment on Madewell Street to see the mother of Johnson’s child.

The pair allegedly kicked open the front door, which had been barricaded with a couch.

Investigators say the two men entered a bedroom and began beating a male victim. During the assault, Johnson pulled out a handgun.
