Parents of 20-year-old mistakenly arrested by County PD speak

The parents of a 20-year-old who was arrested by Baltimore County police in a case of mistaken identity are speaking publicly after his arrest.

The man, Dontae Jordan Jr., was taken into custody on Sept.

2 by Baltimore County Police and Postal Service investigators at East Monument and North Luzerne streets in Baltimore City.

The incident was caught on camera and has gained national attention.

"I think it's horrible. It's terrifying. It was like a nightmare.

I didn't know how to think," said Deneen Bunch Jordan, the man’s mom. "I was worried, emotional and I was afraid for my son.

I didn't know what was going to happen to him." His father shared what he told his son once he got to speak to him after he was released from custody.

Charges and court proceedings

Jordan Jr. had been helping his mother take groceries home from a nearby store, when officers, with their guns drawn, arrested the man and made him sit on the curb while they investigated.
