Rachel Frislid Killing Suspect Shot Dead by Massachusetts Police

Rachel Frislid’s former boyfriend, suspected in her fatal stabbing in Sayville, was shot and killed by police in Erving, Massachusetts, authorities said.

Officials identified the man as Brandon William Hampson, 55, of New York. Suffolk County detectives had been searching for him in connection with Frislid’s death at her Long Island home on September 3.

Suspect Tracked to Motel in Erving

Investigators located Hampson’s vehicle outside the French King Motel and Restaurant, according to a September 10 statement from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Massachusetts State Police and members of the Northwestern District Anti-Crime Task Force responded to the location.

According to the district attorney’s account, Hampson was holding a sharp object when officers encountered him. Authorities said he ignored repeated commands to drop it and charged toward officers, who opened fire.

Hampson was taken to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, where he was pronounced dead.

Rachel Frislid’s Death in Sayville

Frislid, 62, was found unconscious by a family member inside her home on Pearl Court in Sayville at approximately 8:30 p.m. on September 3, Suffolk County Police said.

Homicide detectives investigated her death. Police subsequently identified Hampson, her former boyfriend, as the suspect in the fatal stabbing.

Independent Investigation Into Police Shooting

The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and its assigned Massachusetts State Police detectives are investigating the shooting at the request of the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.

Officials said the arrangement is intended to avoid any perceived conflict of interest and ensure an independent review. The investigation remains ongoing.
