Los Lunas man arrested for crash that killed an Arizona family

Authorities arrested a Los Lunas man who allegedly admitted to falling asleep and causing a crash that killed a young family of four in Arizona.

Jesse David Lovato, 21, faces charges for the crash on Arizona State Route 260, about four miles west of Heber.

Around 12:31 p.m., his eastbound GMC pickup truck crashed into a westbound Nissan sedan – killing the four family members in the sedan: Giovanni Huerta and his wife, Kiah – each 26 years old – and their two children: a 4-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl.

Authorities learned Lovato was on his way back from Phoenix when the crash happened.
