4 after Montana state officials collected a sample that tested positive for salmonella.

Genetic testing performed by state officials and reviewed by the FDA confirmed the sample carried the same strain responsible for the outbreak.

The FDA identified the pathogen specifically as Salmonella Bovismorbificans, noting that the agency and the CDC are working alongside state and local partners on the investigation.
