Jacksonville man arrested after fleeing troopers, clocked at 140 mph

A Jacksonville man is facing a felony charge and several traffic offenses after court documents say he fled from a North Carolina State Highway Patrol trooper on a motorcycle and reached speeds of up to 140 mph.

Arrest and charges

According to warrants, 21-year-old Caleb Matthew Hubbard was arrested Aug. 31 after the chase in Onslow County.

Investigators say Hubbard continued driving despite the trooper's lights and siren.

The warrants state Hubbard was clocked traveling 95 mph and 104mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. 17.

Charges and court proceedings

Court documents say Hubbard was traveling on U.S. 17 when a state trooper attempted to stop him.

Hubbard is charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle while recklessly driving a motorcycle.

He also faces charges of failure to heed a light or siren, reckless driving, no motorcycle endorsement, displaying a fictitious registration plate, and no liability insurance.

Court documents also cite two infractions. One says Hubbard failed to stop for a steady red light while traveling on Western Boulevard.
