UPDATE: Black Box Data Reveals Final Seconds of Fatal Boeing 767 Crash at Miami Airport

Newly released black box data has revealed the final moments of the fatal Boeing 767 cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport.

The aircraft was still traveling at a ground speed of approximately 65 knots when the recording ended, after it broke through the airport’s perimeter fence and struck vehicles outside the runway area.

Pilots Attempted to Abort the Landing

Investigators said the flight crew increased the aircraft’s throttles after touching down, indicating that the pilots may have attempted to abort the unstable landing.

However, the Boeing 767 continued beyond the paved surface, overshooting the runway by at least 1,300 feet before crashing through the perimeter and hitting several vehicles.

Five People Killed in Miami Airport Crash

Five people inside the vehicles were killed, while five others were injured. The aircraft’s two pilots were treated for injuries and later released from hospital.

Investigators are examining the flight data recorder, cockpit voice recorder, aircraft systems, weather conditions and the crew’s decisions to determine why the landing ended in disaster.
