Suspicious Device Outside Downtown Los Angeles Federal Building Disrupts Metro Service

The Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad is investigating a suspicious device found outside a federal building in downtown Los Angeles, prompting road closures and disruption to Metro rail service.

Federal agents alerted the LAPD at approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after the item was discovered outside the building at 255 East Temple Street.

A police robot was deployed to inspect belongings at the scene. Authorities said no threats were associated with the suspicious item.

Alameda Street was closed between Commercial and Temple streets while the investigation continued.

The incident also disrupted service on the Los Angeles Metro A Line. Shuttle buses were operating between Little Tokyo/Arts District and Union Station as a temporary replacement for train service.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the nature of the device.
