Cross-county chase ends in deputy-involved shooting in Dunnellon, Florida

DUNNELLON, Florida — DUNNELLON, Fla. — A Levy County Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a driver overnight following a pursuit that spanned two Florida counties, authorities said.

The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment following the encounter. The incident began when the deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Levy County.

Sheriff’s office officials said the vehicle’s registered owner had an active felony warrant out of Pinellas County.

The driver initially pulled over, but drove away when the deputy ordered him to exit the vehicle.
