WASHAKIE COUNTY THE, Wyoming — Home » Fire News » Wyoming Fire News » Fire crews work to contain wildfire in Washakie County The Cow Camp Fire, located southeast of Ten Sleep in Washakie County, was reported September 3 burning in grass, sagebrush, juniper and timber.

Evacuations and firefighting response

It is currently at 250 acres with no containment.

Air assets and engines were called in and worked aggressively on the fire as it experienced some torching late into the night, followed by decreased fire activity during the overnight hours.

Spot fires have since been reported so Wyoming State Forestry Division’s Gannett Peak and Pronghorn modules and Type 2 and Type 3 helicopters are responding to the fire.

Fire resources are currently stretched thin, so the Washakie County Fire Warden has issued a burn restriction for the county.
